I am going to be writing about conversational hypnosis and more specifically how it can be dangerous when it gets into the wrong hands.With the correct execution conversational hypnosis can enable you to control people. Derren Brown is a renowned hypnotist from the UK. He is regularly featured on national TV demonstrating his skills. On one particular show he picked someone of the street, hypnotized them and then made them empty their bank account for him. They went and did this oblivious to the spell that they were under. They handed him the money no questions asked and then he simply told them that in 10 seconds they had to forget the last 10 minutes of their life. When the film was played back to the person in question they couldn’t believe that this had happened and they had no memory of it what so ever. This is an extreme example however. In America a man was calmly robbing many different shops and he was doing this by hypnotizing the cashier. Once they were under his spell he would then ask them to fill up his bag with money and then he would walk away. Staff became aware of this scam when the tills didn’t add up at the end of the week and once they had watched the CCTV footage it became obvious what was going on. There are several other reports of professional hypnotists using their skills to steal or con money out of people. What makes it such a perfect crime is the fact that the victims have no memory about it afterwards so it is hard to provide the authorities with evidence. I personally have been learning conversational hypnosis as a hobby. It is a lot of fun using and learning it so long as you have good intentions with it and don’t have ambitions of becoming a criminal yourself.
